Bloomberg — Former tech entrepreneur, rapper “Razelkhan” and cryptocurrency accuser Heather Morgan has just got a new job.
Morgan, who has called himself the “Crocodile of Wall Street” on social media and in his music videos Hired by a technology company whose name was not mentioned even under house arrest, according to a court document. She and her husband are accused of attempting to launder $4.5 billion worth of bitcoins (BTC) stolen from the Bitfinex exchange.
On Tuesday, a federal judge accepted Morgan’s request to Amending the terms of her house arrest so that she could work three days a week in the company’s New York office from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., local time. The government did not raise any objection to the proposal.
His lawyer, Eugene Gorokhov, who denied committing the crime, said he was offered a job “for the position of an expert in growth marketing and business development.” He asked the court to withhold the name of the contracting company to protect Morgan’s safety, but the plaintiffs knew the identity of the contractor.
“This information has not been recorded in this public document due to the fact that Ms. Morgan is subject to derogatory comments and harassment on social media as a result of the intense media coverage of the case,” Gorokhov said.
The defense attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Morgan and her husband, Elijah Lichtenstein, were indicted in February after the government’s largest-ever financial bankruptcy. The following month, the couple requested an extension to facilitate settlement discussions.
Previously, the US reported that the couple had “highly concerned” foreign connections and fake identities, as well as access to hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin has plummeted in value since the couple was arrested in their Manhattan apartment.
A hearing for the case is scheduled for January 27 in Washington.
