The Disney Lorcana collectible card game, announced last year during the D23 Expo, is now expected to be released in August 2023. Disney and tabletop and card game developer Ravensburger made the announcement on Tuesday (17).
At the first moment, Disney’s Lorcana will open in the US, Canada, UK, France and Germany in August. In the US, the game will be available from August 18th in select stores in the country. After that, sales will be opened to other retailers. In other countries, the prediction is that the game will also debut in August.
“We know players and community are the most important components of a trading card game,” explains Ryan Milerda, designer in charge of Disney Lorcana. “We partner with game and game stores to host our game shows because they bring people together to learn, play, trade, and help welcome new members to the community.”

At launch, more than 200 cards will be available in the game’s first deck, titled “Chapter One”. It will contain the traditional starter kits, booster packs and a special set with many items called “Illumineer’s Trove”.
There will be three different starter decks at launch, each containing 60 cards. Unlike other games in the genre, Starter Decks will also include a Booster Pack with 12 random cards.
Illumineer’s Trove is a special set that will include eight Booster Packs, two deck bags, a beginner’s guide, a storage case, and some rare cards.
The first batch of Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter cards will be available in English, French and German. There are still no predictions for the game’s release in Brazil.
