The comedians from Porta dos Fundos gave a poke to the cryptocurrency market in the new production “Seis Klebinhos”, published last Thursday (5) on the Youtube channel that has amassed 17.6 million subscribers.
In the funny video clip, a young man tries to pay the restaurant bill with the money he invented in the name of “Klebinho”, but the waiter refuses to receive the banknotes stamped on the man’s face.
“What is in the world is that people are inventing currency now,” the stamp justifies. “I was even going to get into this cryptocurrency business and invent ‘klebites’ or ‘klebcoins’, but I gave up. Drake started doing his thing, and I saw that the competition wasn’t going to work, and there was no way I could compete with a guy like Drake. But this printing idea is a good idea.” .
The bartender then argues that for a currency to exist it must have credibility, but is quickly countered by the character who has used Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) fever to refute him:
“Do you come with that credibility talking about me? Neymar, a rich player, bought a p**** of a monkey picture, and it’s not even a developed picture, it’s a computer picture… a million dollars to say it’s an NFT.”
The case mentioned in the Porta dos Fundos video refers to the Brazilian player purchasing two NFTs from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection in January last year. At the time, Neymar paid R$6.2 million for the photos. Five months later, the price of these same digital arts has dropped to R$800,000 as the hype around NFTs subsides.
