the web 3 It’s an innovative — and sometimes confusing — space that many companies are still learning to navigate. to some of the biggest brands in the world, Kathy Huckle The primary guide for Metaverse.
Hackl is a Web3 strategist and technology futurist. like Founder and Chief Metaverse Officer Give a trip (formerly Futures Intelligence Group), it supports brands that expand their businesses into the virtual world. His company helps clients leverage tools like NFTs, games, fashion, virtual worlds, and metaverse growth strategies.
Hackl is the first professional to be awarded the title of Chief Metaverse Officer. nickname “Godmother of the Metaverse”, is at the forefront of bringing Web3 into business strategy. But his success didn’t start with technology. Hackl was a journalist before moving into corporate communications.
“What I’ve learned from production, attention to detail, and writing journalism is that at the end of the day, a lot of what we do is tell stories, with technology or not.”
With a fresh vision for storytelling in technology, Hackl joined augmented reality company Magic Leap as a Business Strategist. She was immersed in her work, believing the brand would be the next Apple. And when mass layoffs at tech startups left more than half of their employees out of work, Hackl was devastated.
She quickly bounced back and brought her talents to cloud computing platform Amazon Web Services, while also writing about technology for Forbes.
In August 2020, I wrote an article about “Direct to Avatar”, a consumption model through which brands can sell their products directly to users’ digital identities. Then, she received letters from brands and founders who wanted to hire her to help them implement the metaverse in their business.
The decision to start Web3 consulting full time was an easy one. I’ve been thinking about the metaverse and talking to execs about it since 2018: ‘I’m going to dream big. And if I fail, I already have some great skills and I can always come back if I need to.”
But she never looked back. In fact, Hackl built and led the agency he founded to a 7-figure acquisition in just 10 months.
Whether you’re in Los Angeles producing virtual shows or in New York styling virtual couture celebrities, Hackl works with dozens of top brands on innovative projects. This includes guidance Ralph Lauren launching virtual fashion lines, developing digital collectibles for the fashion community, Clinique Collaboration with the startup Jamal Boss To create the first set of NFTs on display at the United Nations.
As her clients lead the way in the metaverse, she points out that not all brands need to make such huge leaps. For companies looking to get started, it encourages using a portion of their innovation or marketing budgets as a testing ground.
“There are ways you can test actions in these virtual worlds or analyze how your brand does certain things. Not everything has to be a massive headline act.”
Women in Metaverse
Hackl shares similar advice for women who want to explore careers in the metaverse. She admits that the environment is still controlled by men, and as one of the first to explore it, she had to learn to create her own space.
Now a respected Web3 expert, Hackl continues to make bold TV appearances, speeches, and publications. Despite the challenges she sometimes faces, she knows that being represented as a Latina woman can still open doors for other women to thrive in tech.
“I am one of the few women to come forward publicly in this field.. I get attacked every now and then, but that’s okay because I know I get attacked by women who come after me.”
Hackl encourages women who want to build their own Web3 careers to be bold about their goals and think about how their talents (even non-technical skills) can contribute to the fast-growing industry.
Women are also advised to do so Overcoming the fear of technologyRemember, they always have the option to change course if things don’t work out.
Regarding the lack of representation, Huckle points out that while the industry is male-dominated, there is excellent support for women. “It can be frustrating to go to a Web3 event and see mostly guys. But there are so many great communities of women on Web3. Find groups of people you’ll feel comfortable with and who will push you forward.”
Its support for women in tech is not limited to representation and advice only. She puts money on her partner WXRAn investment fund focused on women-led startups in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Metaverse.
“I wanted to go from looking at things from the outside to really investing in them. WXR was the first fund I invested money in. It helped me lose my fear of investing and join more funds. Now I’m looking for more and more opportunities to be an angel investor, eventually I would like To own my own venture capital fund,” Huckle said.
For women who are not established but want to take advantage of Hackl’s knowledge of Web3, her latest book, Navigating the Metaverse: A Guide to Limitless Possabilities in a Web 3.0 World. Unlimited Possibilities in the World of Web 3.0″, a great place to start.
It was written with the beginner in mind and aims to demystify the metaverse for businessmen and professionals alike. “I hope that anyone who reads the book can get that moment in one click to realize how Web3, blockchain, and virtual worlds will impact the future.”
With an impressive list of clients and a newly published book under his belt, what’s next for Hackl? She’s working on her own project at Web3 – The Metaverse people. Returning to the Paris salons of the Belle Époque, People of the Metaverse aims to bring together philosophers, thinkers and innovators to build the future.
“There is no schedule. It literally brings these minds together so they can get to know each other. And the collaboration and ideas that will come from there will benefit the world and the ecosystem. “
For Hackl, we’re at full steam ahead towards the future of the internet, and she hopes it can be a beacon for future metaverse directors.
